About the Nissan Skyline 2000 GT-R During the 1960's, the Japanese racing scene was striving to catch up with high performance racing machines of European origin. One manufacturer called Prince developed the first Japanese prototype racing machine, named the R380. With a powerful-in-line six cylinder DOHC engine mounted amidships under a low and sleek body, the R380 won the 1996 Japanese Grand Prix race event and established several world speed records in the following year.

Tamiya 24194 - 1/24 Nissan Skyline 2000 GT-R

At the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show, much attention was paid to the Nissan multi- performance sports car. This model had dropped name Skyline and became simply the Nissan GT-R. Along with the name change, the car also had some other mechanical changes, especially under the hood. Gone is the straight six, and in its place there is a twin-turbo V6, which has an amazing 480 horse power with 60kg of torque. With amazing speed and cornering ability, the GT-R has reached the super car plateau.
