Piaggio APE 50 Cross Country Pick-Up (1996-on) Engine 49.8cc single cylinder two stroke PIAGGIO (Vespa) SET /photos/45676495@N05/sets/72157629372499313 The Piaggio Ape s a three-wheeled light commercial vehicle based on a vespa scooter produced since 1948 by Piaggio. Available in different versions (short and long platform, van and cross), all of which ideal for a wide range of applications. The Cross Country version of the Ape pick-up comes with roll over bar and front and rear fender, third stop light and wide rear-view mirrors. The Ape 50 was introduced in 1995, powered by a 49.8cc engine, a redesigned headlight incorcorating side lights. The original Ape 50 remains in production and has spawned numerous variants. Also in 1996 the Ape 50 Furgone van version of the Ape was released, the Cross Coutry arrived in 2000 with more a sporty looking restyle, in 2006 the Ape Classic built in India with a Lombardini 422 cc Diesel engine., between 2007-09 the Ape Calessino: limited edition models were built in Italy by Piaggio with a Lombardini 422 cc Diesel engine (999 in blue produced between 2007 and 2009 then 600 in white produced from 2009) plus an Electric LV zero-emission model (100 in white produced in 2009).
